Ryan and theAUDITION
------------------------------------------------------------------------
How many times have you heard the words "next big thing"? Well, theAudition is it. theAudition isn’t your average, mediocre rock band, they are a downright addictive dance-rock-pop-punk band from Chicago, IL, who is ready to give the Chicago scene a much needed jolt. Like their contemporaries in bands like Fall Out Boy, Alkaline Trio and Spitalfield, theAudition sings songs full of melody and catchy choruses that evoke dancing and singing along from even the most jaded of listeners. Their Victory Records debut album, Controversy Loves Company, is full of infectious songs that are upbeat and heartfelt. This is the band and the album that will finally reinvent the phrase "pop punk." theAudition is here to take the scene to the next level. Believe the hype!
theAudition was formed in 2003 in the suburbs of Chicago by Ryan O’Connor (drums) and Joe Lussa (bass) who both shared a common love for music and the desire to tour. The band went through the usual baby band lineup changes, then added Seth Johnson on guitar and started playing local shows alongside bands like June and The Academy Is…with fans being immediately excited by theAudition. With a new demo in hand and half a year’s worth of local touring accomplished, theAudition was discovered by like-minded local label Victory Records and immediately signed a record deal. A month after signing, theAudition lost their original singer and was on the search for a replacement. The band found a soulmate in Danny Stevens, who came straight out of motor city, Detroit, Michigan. Ryan spoke of Danny’s inception in the band, saying "I made some calls to a few people I knew and the one person I really connected with was Danny. We both shared the same passion for music and after writing You‘ve Made Us Conscious we knew that he was meant to be in theAudition."
In the Spring of 2005, theAudition recorded their Victory debut, Controversy Loves Company, at Nada Studios in New Windsor, NY in just over a month. theAudition chose to work with producer John Naclerio due to his great reputation and his past work with bands like My Chemical Romance, Senses Fail, and Brand New. Ryan said of the recording experience: "Recording Controversy was one of the best experiences of my life. John Naclerio is a great guy and is amazing at what he does. Being the first time in a real studio, everyone was a little nervous about what to expect but John made everyone comfortable and that helped us all with making the record we wanted to make." Controversy Loves Company is full of hook-laden pop songs about real life situations that people can relate to: be it lost love, the frustrations of growing up, or being away from home. And whether Controversy Loves Company is musical therapy or background music to a party, fans can walk away with a sense of honesty and truth after listening.
After their recording debut was completed, theAudition added Timmy Klepek as an additional guitar player and all the puzzle pieces were finally together. "We‘ve been through a lot in a short amount of time and I really believe that‘s why it makes us so tight as a group. We believe in each other and all share the same dream," said Ryan. theAudition headed out on the New Faces From Different Places tour his past summer with labelmates The Hurt Process, The Junior Varsity and Aiden and their national buzz started, with the local Chicago scene stewing in anticipation for theAudition’s record release.
Coming a long way so quickly helped define theAudition and the band is poised to redefine and reinvent the realm of pop punk. theAudition are the new voice of the talent-packed Chicago scene and these boys are ready to make the whole world fall in love with Controversy Loves Company on September 20th!

I read through some comments... and a couple others share my interest:
We need some banners
to put on our pages. I mean.. I love ya guys.. I'd like to spread the word a bit and spread the goodness to others... So a banner would be sweet to be able to do that.
new cd is amazing all my friends cant get enough of it its hella catchy good thing i got to watch you play in bakersfield or i wouldnt have probably have heard of u guys for a while keep up the good work you guys are awsome
Hello, its the, theAUDITION. I finally got your CD this morning, from girl sent it to me. Hmm, what to say... If you read AP's review on your CD, I do have to say, I agree with it. I mean, I would have given you guys a 4, not a 3, but the short paragraph, did strongly relate itself to describing the CD. I did love the demos, I did love your early shows, and I do love the music video, but it seems like the rest of the CD is missing that, that "spark", that you guys orginally had, and I know still have. It just feels like the CD becomes too repeatitive as you listen to it. As in the AP review, I believe that the CD is in dying need of "diversity". I know theAUDITION is better than what I am saying, or as it may be coming off to you as you may be reading this. But, this first CD, sounds like repeatitive as Fall Out Boy is, whenyou listen to their CDs. BUT. **BUT** you guys ae much, much better than shitty FOB.
Aww, Okay. I still love this band, but I think the record company affected you guys somehow. I would love to see some difference in upcoming, new songs, and, AND I will go out of my way, ANYTIME to see you guys live. For anyone out there, that has NOT seen theAUDITION live, you ARE MISSING OUT. Danny and rest are jawsome live.
Okay, about that record company thing. I am not sure if it is true or not. BUT. I mean, take a look a THE JUNIOR VARSITY. Listen to their old demos, and their new CD release on Victory. Listen to the HUGE difference. And if you ask me, and I beleive for the most part of people, it is NOT a good difference.
I think that is all I have to say. And anyone out there that has NOT yet bought theAUDITION CD, BUY IT NOW. It is WORTH it. I just had to say this review of mine, since I have known the band for a while, and was expecting more for this first CD. But. Think what you will think, these are just my opinions, I would gladly listen to yours as well.
Bitchin job on the album guys, I just picked it up.. Danny has been a rad vocalist for quite sometime, Congratulations on all of your success fellas. You guys deserve it! ps. I miss OIM

Aww. No banners to put on my profile to express your awesomeness! You really should invest on that..Even though I don't think it cost anything..I really wouldn't know...I have your song on my profile but that isn't nearly enough, obviously..I need to get your CD...I'm broke. Send it to me for free. I'll give you my address?Just kidding, but if that's possible I wouldn't mind... Great music, see you later. Write back.

Is this what you wanted? With you match to catch and burn me down (with your type of answers)? It’s just how you say it half drunk. Is it time because he’ll watch from the window. Is this what you wanted? It started off like this. Will you go when its time? I know you can light the match to burn me down. I know you know what. I’ll fold, I’llforget. Will you? Now and again through your ears I’m listening. It’sjust impossible to get your attention. This always comes down to justhow you say it. Come home. I promise you won’t be let down but would you let me go if the time was right. We will leave that option for you to decide. Would you go if the time was right? Would you go just say you would want to take me. This fire is almost out. This time we fall.Say you want to take me. Please take me.
